I have listed down the 10 top things you can definitely explore in Iceland and fall head over heels with the place like I have in a few days stay.

1.) Visit the Dynjandi waterfall

iceland

It is indeed one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the West fjords part of Iceland. It is a perfect place to experience and enjoy the nature’s gift to this country. The waterfall gives way to smaller waterways and it sits in a protected natural reserve location. I could even take the joy of the majestic falls by camping in this part of Iceland.

2.) The Tectonic Plates

iceland

Iceland contrasts to its name completely. I discovered it is indeed one of the world’s most volcanic regions. The signature points one can look out for are the Oxara rivers, which falls on one side of the plates leading to the series of waterfalls and the Derringarhylur pool.

3.) The Rauoasandur beach

iceland

This was indeed a sight I behold in my eyes. The sand was unique, it was in pink in colour. It was most calming and serene walks around the coastal trails to the Latrabjarg Bird Cliffs.

4.) Swimming in the Blue Lagoon

iceland

Are you an ardent swimming lover? I am and was attracted to the most famous attraction in Iceland. The blue lagoon heated seawater had a striking turquoise colour. It was one of the most rejuvenating spas like the experience I had.

5.) Viking world

iceland

The Viking museum will take you back centuries into the history of the 9th century. It was fascinating to explore the Viking ship which sailed the Atlantic in the Viking historical period.

6.) Northern Lights

iceland

Iceland tops the list if you want to see the Northern lights also called the Aurora Borealis. My visit to the Reykjavik city gave me a beautiful view from sky high.

7.) Enjoy the spirits at Olgerdin Brewery

iceland

Olgeradin brewery is the world famous brewery in Iceland since 1913. It serves up a range of alcoholic drinks a well as the Icelandic beer. It is worth getting enchanted by the spirits here and the honey wine was the cherry on the top.

8.) The Husey visit

iceland

Husey lies in the east of Iceland. It is sandwiched between two mighty glacial rivers and encircling it is the majestic eastern mountains. I was truly mesmerized and lost in viewing the flora and fauna of more than 150 kinds of plants and 30 species of birds here. It is a rare view of nature one can see. I was lucky to have been able to experience it.

9.) Whale watching

iceland

You need not to go back to older civilizations from a time machine to be able to see whales. Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland will give the pleasure of whale watching in this modern era. I departed on a harbour tour and was fascinated by almost 23b kinds of whales including the humpback and minke whales splashing the waters.

10.) The dive into the Seljavallaug pool

iceland

This pool dates back to 1923. It is one of the oldest swimming pool in the country. It is a part of the hillside. While you take a dive into the pool and swim, I was admiring the spectacular surrounding.
