Taste the Spirit of France

Generally, when people plan a trip to France they just think of visiting famous places. They just dream of Eiffel Tower, the sunny French Riviera, and the peaceful country villages. I believe that one makes the most memorable moments of vacation which is actually least expected. I like an adventure. So I visited France to taste the spirit of this place. I tried out some unusual new things and enjoyed a lot.  I got to meet new people, understand the culture and food of France. I also did shopping. So here is the list of things to do in France. It also contains information about the food and wine of France.

Experience the spirit of France

Watching the sunset from the Eiffel Tower

This should definitely be in the top of everyone’s list. It is a famous site of France and symbolizes Paris. It has a romantic ambiance. I visited this place just before sundown. It had a gentle lighting and a magical effect. I noticed the golden glows changed to rose-colored hues as the sun was setting down. It was something which I never experienced. There are many restaurants which offer a great view.

Stroll through the charming old Quarters of Paris

The Quartier Latin and the Marais are amazing neighborhoods. Everyone can easily soak up the ambiance of medieval Paris. I explored the Left bank in the Latin Quarter and the city’s university quarter. I also visited the Notre-Dame Cathedral by crossing the Seine River. This church is located on an island. This place gave me the Old World charm of Paris. I shopped from the streets of Paris.

Learn to cook Classic French Cuisine in Burgundy

Cooking is something which I love to do. But learning to cook in Burgundy was a different kind of experience. French Gastronomy is designated by UNESCO on the Intangible World Heritage list. Each region in France has a distinct culinary style. But Burgundy is the gastronomic center of the country. The most renowned dishes here are escargot, gougeres (cheese puffs), Coq Au Vin (chicken stew) and Boeuf Bourguignon (Beef Burgundy). To learn cooking out here I went to a historic farmhouse. We prepared a four-course meal. It was a hands-on class. I got to taste a great variety of food.

Bike around Bordeaux

This region has some of the most attractive scenery in France. I went through the country lanes, winding around vine-covered rolling hills. I passed the grandiose castles and quaint historic villages. There were cycles available too. One just had to make a self-route for it. The best route from Bordeaux is the Roger Lapebie bike path. It has a lush natural landscape.

Being inspired at the Chartres Cathedral Organ Festival

This place is of spiritual devotion. It is the UNESCO listed in the Loire valley. It has Gothic architecture. I visited this place on a bright sunny day. The sunlight was flooding the colorful stained-glass windows. There are festivals organized. I got to enjoy this festival too. The most renowned thing is the neoclassical pipe organ. It had marvelous booming tones and sounds of sacred Christian music. Concerts are held frequently which includes classical orchestras, marching bands, and jazz to traditional French songs.

Enjoying Outdoor performances at ancient theatres in Haut-Vaucluse

This is a sun-soaked landscape in the heart of Provence. Haut Vaucluse has historic towns and medieval hilltop villages. I visited the UNESCO-listed Antique Theatre. It has the antiquity of Europe. I watched dance performances and ancient dramas. This is the 1st-century theatre which is still used for outdoor performances. Many of the famous music festivals in France. It adds magic to the evening weather and night.

Once in a while, everyone should try out something like the above. It will create magic and everything will seem to be great. I also felt the same after trying such various things in France. I got to see the colorful spirit of France.
