Discover Iceland: The Land of Volcanoes, Glaciers, and Viking Legends

Welcome to the land of volcanoes, ice, lava fields, Viking history, glorious cliffs, and more—Iceland is a dreamland in itself. Let's explore some fascinating facts about this unique place.

Top Places to Visit

Blue Lagoon

The Blue Lagoon is a geothermal spa in southwestern Iceland, located in a lava field near Grindavík and in front of Mount Þorbjörn. It is approximately 20 km from Keflavík International Airport and is one of Iceland's most renowned attractions.

Þingvellir National Park

From 930 until its final meeting there in 1798, Iceland's annual parliament, the Alþing, met at Þingvellir. Since 1881, the parliament has been housed in the Alþingishúsið in Reykjavik. Þingvellir is now a national park in the southwest Icelandic municipality of Bláskógabyggð, about 40 km northeast of Reykjavik. It is one of Iceland's most popular tourist destinations and a historic, cultural, and geological site.

Reykjavik

According to the Landnámabók, Ingólfr Arnarson founded Reykjavik in 874 CE, which is considered the site of Iceland's earliest permanent settlement. The city did not experience urban growth until the 18th century when it was formally established as a commercial town in 1786. Over the decades, it steadily expanded, becoming a regional, then national, hub of trade, population, and government. Reykjavik is now one of the world's safest, greenest, and cleanest cities, serving as the capital and largest city of Iceland.

Skaftafell

Located in Southeast Iceland's Öræfi area, Skaftafell is a protected area that was previously a large farm before being designated a national park. The larger Vatnajökull National Park once included Skaftafell National Park before it merged with other surrounding areas.

Jökulsárlón

Jökulsárlón is a large glacial lake in the southern region of Vatnajökull National Park. It formed when the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier began to retreat from the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. The lake has expanded at varying rates due to the glacier's melting. As of 2009, it was considered the deepest lake in Iceland, with a depth of over 284 meters. It now covers an area of roughly 18 km² and is about 8 km from the ocean's edge.

Hallgrímskirkja

Reykjavik is home to the Hallgrímskirkja Lutheran parish church. Standing 74.5 meters high, it is the largest church and one of the tallest buildings in Iceland. Since its completion in 1986, the church's distinctively curved spire and side wings have made it a significant symbol of Iceland's national identity. The church is named in honor of the Icelandic poet and clergyman Hallgrímur Pétursson, author of the Passion Hymns.

Language and Communication

While the native language is Icelandic, a North Germanic language, English is widely understood and spoken by the locals. We will provide you with an English-speaking guide for ease of travel.
